Sialkot Police on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle a huge consignment of illegal arms from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) to Sialkot and arrested one person. According to police on Tuesday, The accused, identified as Imran, was arrested by a team of Begowala Police Station led by SHO Irshad Ahmed. Police recovered 32 pistols 30bore, 3 pistols 9mm, a rifle 44 bore and 149 magazines from him. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigations are underway. Police said that Imran was illegally smuggling weapons from KPK to other districts. He was arrested after a tip-off from a reliable source. The police have urged the citizens to come forward and share any information about illegal weapons smuggling with them. They said that such information would be treated in the strictest confidence.
