November 26, 2025

Police carried out an early-morning operation to end the sit-in staged by visually-impaired protesters outside the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.  According to sources, police detained the demonstrators and restored traffic flow on The Mall.

Police officials said the protesters had been camping outside the assembly for the past fifteen days, causing severe traffic disruptions on The Mall.  Authorities added that after today’s operation, the protesters were taken into custody and the area around Charing Cross was cleaned. A heavy police presence, however, remains on Mall Road.
