Police personnel have thwarted another attack by terrorists on their post in Dera Ismail Khan, forcing them to flee after an intense gunbattle, police said on Saturday. Two policemen were injured in the terror attack on the checkpost in Sheikh Mela area in the precincts of Mughalkot Police Station. The wounded cops were identified as Alam and Ahsan. The intense exchange of fire between police personnel and terrorists last for over an hour. In face of stiff resistance, the attackers fled the scene in the cover of darkness. Police force has launched a search operation in the area to hunt down the militants. On Friday, the district administration of DI Khan had imposed Section 144 to maintain the law and order situation in the district from January 6. According to the district administration, the order would take effect from January 06 to January 14, and it has been enforced for the safety of citizens’ lives and properties and to prevent any untoward incidents. It imposes a ban on pillion riding on motorcycles, display of arms, and assembly of more than five people at one place.
