Police arrest elite force constable for drug smuggling in RawalpindiBreaking

A head constable from the Elite Force Headquarters in Rawalpindi has been arrested by the Gujar Khan police on charges of drug smuggling. The arrest led to the recovery of 1.8 kilograms of charas. According to police reports on Wednesday, Head Constable Taqdees-ul-Islam had allegedly been involved in drug trafficking for the past two years. The arrest was made during a routine check when constable Taqdees-ul-Islam was stopped by patrolling officers on a motorcycle and the contraband was discovered. Subsequently, he was taken into custody. Senior police officials received preliminary reports indicating that the accused, Head Constable Taqdees-ul-Islam, had been stationed at the Elite Force Headquarters in Rawalpindi and had allegedly been involved in drug smuggling for the past two years.

Investigations revealed that he had also been purchasing drugs through an informal channel. According to sources, the involvement of the head constable's relatives in drug trafficking has caused a stir among the police officers at the station, with attempts to suppress the case at the local level. However, upon receiving the information, the higher-ups instructed immediate action, leading to the registration of a case. SSP Operations Rawalpindi, retired Lieutenant Hafiz Kamran Asghar, dismissed any leniency towards the accused, stating that there is no room for criminal elements in the force. He emphasized that self-accountability within the force is ongoing. Legal action against the head constable is underway alongside departmental proceedings.
