Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday named Captain (r) Abdul Khaliq Achakzai as their candidate for election for the seat of Balochistan Assembly (BA) speaker. Former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif and the party President Shehbaz Sharif have finalized the candidate’s name after consultations with the provincial leadership of the party. The provincial assembly will meet at 3:00 in the afternoon today to elect the speaker as well the deputy speaker. PPP, on the other hand, has nominated Ghazala Gola, for the seat of deputy speaker. The maiden session of Balochistan Assembly was held in Quetta yesterday with Engineer Zamrak Achakzai in the chair in which newly-elected members of the provincial legislature took oath. Of total 65 members, 57 MPAs attended the assembly’s session, which started at 3:00 pm. Earlier special prayers were offered for the people who died in various terror incidents in the province prior to elections.
