PMD forecasts countrywide rains from Sept 15Breaking

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Wednesday predicted rains across the country from September 15. According to Meteorology Department, there was a possibility of intermittent rain with gale and strong winds From September 15 to 20, while monsoon winds from the Bay of Bengal will enter the upper regions of the country, from September 16, westerly winds are also likely to enter the upper regions of the country. The PMD said that during September 15 to 20, there was a possibility of strong winds and thundershowers in many places of Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Guliyat. Thunderstorms may occur at intervals. Intermittent rain was expected in Karam, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan and South Punjab during September 16 to 18, while there was also possibility of rain in Rajanpur, Musa Khel, Barkhan, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Mirpur Khas, Tharparkar, Khairpur and Umarkot.

On the other hand, during September 17 to 19, there was a possibility of increase in water flow in the rivers in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Galiat, Chitral, Abbottabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, while landsides due to heavy rains were feared in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral, Mansehra. The rains would reduce in the intensity of the recent heat wave, while there was a possibility of damage to the weak infrastructure solar panels due to strong winds, in view of which the Meteorological Department has issued instructions to all the concerned institutions to be on alert.
