Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Saturday reached Sukkur, Sindh to review the damages caused by recent unprecedented floods. Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also accompanying them. The UN chief along with Premier Shehbaz and members of federal cabinet would also visit flood-ravaged areas of Balochistan and review the ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts. The prime minister and the UN secretary-general would also take an aerial view of the flood-hit areas of Sindh and Balochistan provinces. At Sukkur airport, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah received Prime Minister Shehbaz and the UN chief.
He will give them a detailed briefing afterwards. Later, they would meet the affectees of Larkana district and its surrounding areas. The visit to the archaeological site Mohenjo Daro is also included in their schedule. Later, PM Shehbaz and UN Chief would meet the flood affected people of Tehsil Osta Muhammad, District Jaffarabad in Balochistan. UN Secretary-General Guterres said that Pakistan did not contribute to the rise in global warming. The countries which are big carbon emitters are responsible for it, he said adding that today it was Pakistan which was affected by climate change, tomorrow it would be another country.
