Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday thanked Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe for his support in closing the recent IMF $3bn arrangement. In a recent telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe for the invaluable support extended in the successful closure of the recent $3 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) arrangement. The leaders of the two nations took the opportunity to discuss the strong bond between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and the role each country plays in regional development and peace.

 During the conversation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka and expressed his optimism that both nations would overcome their current economic challenges swiftly. The premier emphasised the importance of cooperation and thanked President Wickremesinghe for the continued support and solidarity. President Wickremesinghe, reciprocating the warm sentiments, thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for his well wishes and reiterated that Pakistan is a close friend of Sri Lanka. He emphasized that supporting friends during difficult times is a true testament to the strength of their friendship. The Sri Lankan President also extended his congratulations to the Prime Minister on successfully reaching the IMF agreement, recognizing the significant efforts made by Pakistan in overcoming economic hurdles.
