The financial crisis of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has worsened further as employees have not been yet paid the salaries of August. The Finance Ministry has denied the reports of non-payment to PIA but funds for payment of salaries have not been releases and if the national flag carrier don’t receives financial assistance from the government, it will be completely grounded in a few months. According to research of INP, the financial position of PIA has become very poor the employees of the airline who earlier used to get salary by 05 of every month have not paid salary of August despite passage of about two weeks of September.

PIA had requested the government to provide financial assistance, on which the ECC formed a committee on the matter instead of releasing the fund. Finance Ministry has not yet released money even to provide temporary relief to PIA. The PIA had sought an immediate payment from the government for the arrears of leases, aircraft rentals and ground services. Sources told this news agency that if the government does not provide financial support, the entire PIA will be grounded within a few months.
