The Punjab Highway Patrolling Police (PHPP) has been empowered to issue driving licenses, according to a notification issued by the Inspector General of Punjab Police (IGP) Dr. Usman Anwar. The notification states that under Article 27 of the Police Order 2002, all Regional Officers and District Officers of PHPP have been given the status of Licensing Authority and shall have the authority to issue driver's license under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 and all traffic laws within their respective district and region limits. This new development is expected to provide more convenience to the public, as they will now be able to apply for and obtain driving licenses from PHPP offices in addition to Traffic Police offices.

It is important to note that the PHPP has been empowered to issue driving licenses only after regular approval. This means that the PHPP has met all of the necessary requirements and is now considered to be competent to issue driving licenses. The PHPP is a specialized unit of the Punjab Police that is responsible for patrolling and enforcing traffic laws on highways and motorways. The PHPP is equipped with modern vehicles and equipment, and its personnel are highly trained in traffic management and enforcement.

The empowerment of the PHPP to issue driving licenses is a welcome step that will help to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the driving license issuance process in Punjab.
