The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its crackdown on vendors selling substandard milk, meat, and cold drinks. During recent operations, food safety teams conducted roadblocks and raids across 18 food points and dairy shops, 16 meat suppliers, and counterfeit beverage plants. The enforcement resulted in the seizure of 110 crates of prepared cold drinks and machinery, 300 kilograms of inferior-quality, underweight chicken, 750 liters of expired beverages, and over 2 tons of milk. Additionally, fines totaling 110,000 rupees were imposed.
DG Food Authority Asim Javed reported that a thorough inspection of 32,000 kilograms of meat was conducted at internal checkpoints early in the morning. Action was taken against food points for the presence of expired goods and poor sanitation practices, leading to the destruction of substandard milk samples. Javed emphasized that violations of pure food regulations led to fines, and underscored that the use of inferior, underweight meat and counterfeit milk can contribute to serious health issues. He assured that efforts against fraud in food production would continue, with no leniency for those using substandard ingredients.
