Asserting that the state of Jammu and Kashmir was Pakistan’s jugular vein, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday lamented that India was holding Pakistan responsible for the Pahalgam attack without investigating the incident. Addressing the passing out ceremony at Kakul Military Academy, he said it aloud that the country’s armed forces remained committed to defend the country and the nation stood by them.
He said that Pakistan was ready to cooperate in an impartial investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He also hit out at India for suspending the Indus Water Treaty. “Water is our lifeline. There can be no compromise on this issue,” PM Shehbaz said categorically. He lamented that although Pakistan had a desire to have good relations with Afghanistan, it was still concerned that terrorism emanated from that country.
“We have conveyed to the Afghan government our concerns over the latter’s failure to rein in the terrorists who are operating freely from its soil.” The prime minister said that Pakistan suffered immensely at the hands of terrorists. “No other country has suffered as much as we have suffered.”
