Pakistan has called for the respect for international law and meaningful progress in the peaceful settlement of long-standing disputes, in accordance with the UN Charter and relevant Security Council resolutions.The call was made by Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani while delivering national statement during the inaugural session of the IPU Annual Hearing 2026 at the UN headquarters.

The Chairman Senate called for democratic, transparent, and accountable decision-making in order to enhance the UN’s credibility, adding that Parliaments are indispensable partners in ensuring national ownership of international commitments.
