The Anti-Narcotics Force said on Thursday it has seized 224 kilograms of methamphetamine from Karachi port, describing it as the “largest ever” shipment of crystal ice in Pakistan. In a statement, the ANF spokesperson said the drugs were discovered concealed within a consignment of soapstone, destined for Belgium via Afghanistan. The drugs were initially smuggled from Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing into Karachi, it said and added that the smugglers then attempted to conceal the methamphetamine within the roof and doors of five shipping containers. The ANF seized all five containers at the Karachi port. Three individuals involved in the smuggling attempt, including two Afghan nationals, were apprehended while attempting to flee to their home country through the Torkham border. It added that the ANF was committed to combating drug trafficking and protecting the world from the harmful effects of narcotics.
