During a session of the National Assembly chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized the potential of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to jointly address the global issues of Kashmir and Palestine. In his remarks, Maulana Fazlur Rehman noted the significance of the occasion, recalling that prominent international figures such as Yasser Arafat and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an had previously addressed the Assembly. He also pointed out the presence of the Imam of Masjid Nabawi as a distinguished guest, stressing that the session should have focused on diplomacy and bilateral relations rather than political discussions.
He urged the Assembly to honor the traditions of hospitality and mutual respect, especially with the Saudi guests present, and underscored the importance of discussing the enduring friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He acknowledged Saudi Arabia's role as a leader in the Islamic world and expressed regret over the political atmosphere in the Assembly, extending an apology to the Saudi delegation on behalf of the opposition. Maulana Fazlur Rehman concluded by reiterating that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have the potential to play a significant global role in resolving the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.
