The Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) has applied to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a power generation license for a new nuclear power plant located in Mianwali. This C-5 project, boasting a capacity of 1117MW, holds immense promise for bolstering the country energy security and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. NEPRA has actively engaged in seeking proposals from interested partners and stakeholders within a timeframe of 15 days. This demonstrates the government commitment to moving forward with the project and ensuring its timely completion. This initiative is expected to contribute significantly to Pakistan energy mix, providing a clean and reliable source of power for millions of citizens.

The C-5 project marks another milestone in Pakistan long and successful journey in the field of nuclear energy. With its existing fleet of nuclear power plants already generating a substantial portion of the country electricity, the addition of this new facility will further strengthen the energy infrastructure and pave the way for a more sustainable future. The details surrounding the project cost, timeline, and construction partners are still under development. However, the application to NEPRA signifies a crucial step forward in bringing the C-5 project to fruition. The coming weeks and months will be crucial in securing approvals and finalizing project details, paving the way for the construction of this vital power plant.
