Over 1,700 people have been evacuated from their homes in Vehari district as floodwaters from the River Satluj continue to rise. The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Vehari, Asif Hussain Shah, said that the government is utilizing all available resources to facilitate the citizens. He added that 13 relief camps have been set up for the displaced people, and that all possible facilities have been provided in the camps. Shah said that the water level in the River Satluj is currently at 54,000 cusecs, and that there is a chance that the level could rise further. He urged the people to remain vigilant and to follow the instructions of the district administration. The DC also said that all relevant departments have been tasked to make all possible arrangements to deal with the flood situation. He added that the government is committed to providing relief to the affected people.
The floodwaters have affected several villages in Vehari district. The district administration has evacuated people from low-lying areas. The relief camps are providing food, water, and shelter to the displaced people. The government is monitoring the situation closely and is prepared to take further action if necessary.
