A 9-year-old girl died and her 5-year-old brother was injured after being electrocuted in the Sur Pul area of Mayaar, Lower Dir on Thursday morning. According to media reports, the victims, identified as Husna and Rahim Shah, were on their way to school when they came in contact with a fallen high-voltage electricity pole. Husna was pronounced dead on the spot, while Rahim was taken to the DHQ Timergara Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. The incident has once again highlighted the need for better safety measures around electricity poles and wires. It is important to ensure that these poles and wires are properly insulated and that they are not in a position where they can fall and cause harm to people. The parents of the victims have demanded that the government take action against the responsible officials and ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
