An explosion ripped through a coal mine in Pabi Shahkot, Tehsil of Nowshera on Wednesday, killing one worker and leaving four others injured. According to police and rescue officials, the blast occurred shortly after 8:00 AM, burying five workers under the debris. Rescue teams from Police and Rescue 1122 immediately rushed to the scene and launched a rescue operation. One worker, identified as Khaista, 30, was found dead at the scene. Four other workers, Salahuddin (41), Jahan Khan (37), Jahan Bakht (55), and another unidentified individual, were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. The injured workers, who are reportedly from the Shangla district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, are said to be in stable condition. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but authorities suspect it may have been caused by the accumulation of methane gas in the mine. The provincial government has announced an investigation into the incident and has pledged to provide assistance to the deceased worker's family and the injured workers.
