Oil and gas production in Pakistan dips slightlyBreaking

November 16, 2023

Oil and gas production in Pakistan recorded a slight decline on a weekly basis during the past week. According to the Pakistan Petroleum Institute of Sind (PPIS) and Arif Habib Research, the average daily production of crude oil in the last week of November was recorded at 70,156 barrels, which is 0.1 percent lower than the previous week. Similarly, during the week ending November 8, the average daily production of gas in the country was recorded at 2,967 MMcfd, which is 3% lower than in the previous week. The decline in production is attributed to a variety of factors, including technical issues at some of the country's oil and gas fields, as well as a decline in demand due to the ongoing economic slowdown.

OGDCL, the country's largest oil and gas producer, saw its average daily crude oil production fall to 32,971 barrels during the last week, while PPL's production fell to 10,884 barrels. POL's production also declined, falling to 4,797 barrels. In terms of gas production, Mari gas's average daily production fell to 1,098 mmcfd, while OGDCL's production fell to 680 mmcfd. PPL's production also declined, falling to 553 mmcfd. POL's production remained relatively stable, at 63 mmcfd. Despite the recent decline, oil and gas production in Pakistan is still expected to grow in the coming years. The country has a number of promising oil and gas fields that are still under development, and the government is committed to increasing domestic production in order to reduce its reliance on imports.
