The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Wednesday rejected the nomination papers of the prominent leaders and former ministers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) including Azam Swati and Murad Saeed for the Senate election scheduled on April 02, 2024. The secrutiny process of the nomination papers filed for the Senate elections was continued in the ECP as per its schedule. The nomination papers of eight candidates for the technocrat seat in the Senate were declared valid while the papers of PTI leader Azam Swati for the same seat were rejected.
The ECP also approved the nomination papers of 16 candidates including Niaz Ahmed and a son of Nawaz League's Amir Muqam for general seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province. While the nomination papers of PTI leader Murad Saeed, former Chief Minsiter Mehmood Khan and Khurram Zeeshan were rejected. The ECP also accepted the nomination papers of six female candidates for the reserved seats for women.
