The Ministry of Health has verified the existence of poliovirus in environmental samples, collecting it from the nine districts of the country. As per the Ministry of Health’s spokesperson, the poliovirus was detected in one sample from Quetta, Mastung, Multan, Peshawar and Nowshera. Samples from Karachi Malir, Karachi South and D.I.Khan have also tested positive for poliovirus confirmed by the health authorities. The spokesperson stated that the poliovirus was identified in all samples through the country’s border. He emphasized the critical role of polio vaccine, highlighting that protecting children from disability and ensuring that they receive the necessary vaccination against polio. The spokesperson emphasized the importance of vaccination, and added that parents must give the polio vaccine to their children under five years.
