Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi met newly appointed Malaysian Consul General Muhammad Younis Ibrahim at the Governor House here Saturday. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Malaysia. During the meeting, both sides agreed to work towards increasing the volume of bilateral trade and promoting exchanges of trade and business delegations between the two countries.

The Governor Hashmi said Pakistan offered numerous attractive tourist destinations for Malaysian visitors. He also highlighted the importance of film festivals in both countries as an effective means of promoting cultural and social linkages. The Governor said that Pakistani surgical instruments were in demand worldwide and that cooperation with Malaysia in this sector could be further expanded.

The Malaysian Consul General indicated that Malaysian Airlines may soon begin flights to Karachi, a development that could further facilitate business, tourism and people-to-people contacts between the two countries. The consul general said the promotion of economic diplomacy was among his key priorities. He added that investment in technology, electric vehicles and solar energy would also be prioritized. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening public and business-to-business relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.
