In pursuance of the decision to reduce the electricity prices, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) on Monday filed a petition in the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) for a Rs1.69 per unit cut in the power tariff. The CPPA filed the petition under the fuel price adjustment for July.
The NEPRA would hear the CPPA’s petition on August 28. On August 7, 2025, the NEPRA had approved a reduction of Rs1.89 per unit in the electricity prices. According to the decision, the reduction had been approved for the quarterly adjustment from April to June 2025.
The reduction in electricity price will apply to all DISCOS (power distribution companies) consumers, including K-Electric. The reduction in electricity prices will apply for 3 months, from August to October 2025. The electricity consumers will get a relief of around Rs55.874 billion. The reduction in electricity prices will not apply to landline and prepaid consumers.
