The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has allowed to raise the K-Electric tariff from Rs1.49 to Rs4.49 in different categories to bring it at par with electricity rates being charged by other electricity distribution companies in the country. In a statement issued on Friday, the Nepra said that the federal government had submitted a petition seeking a uniformity of the electricity tariff of the K-Electric with other Discos operating across the country.
The Nepra has allowed an increase of Rs3.30/unit in the rate of Discos under the head of fourth quarterly adjustment for FY2021-22, the statement said. It added that the federal government also petitioned for same rate hike for the K-Electric. The Nepra explained that this adjustment would be charged on units consumed in Oct-Dec 2022 and January 2023. It added that the fuel adjustment would be charged for four months from January-April 2023. The tariff hike for K-Electric would be in the region between Rs1.49 and Rs4.45 in different categories.
