The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched an awareness campaign regarding the preparation of identity cards for citizens who have completed 18 years of age.NADRA has launched this campaign under the title “Make an identity card, prove your identity”. According to NADRA, it is mandatory for every Pakistani citizen to get a National Identity Card (NIC) upon reaching the age of 18. The agency has clarified that parents or legal guardians are obliged to get their children's NICs immediately upon their 18th birthday.
NADRA says that through the NIC, every citizen gets protection of his constitutional and legal rights as a Pakistani, while in case of not having an NIC, he may face deprivation of several civic facilities. NADRA has warned that in case of not getting an NIC or violating the laws, imprisonment, fine or both can be given. The agency has appealed to citizens to fulfill their legal obligation by getting their NICs made on time.
