National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said on Thursday that May 9 will be remembered as the darkest day in the history of the country. Condemning the events that transpired on May 9 last year, Sadiq said: "The enraged group had attacked the military installations." Sadiq said: "The attack was an attempt to weaken the institutions and challenge the writ of the state." He said: "The violent activities under the guise of the protest cannot be tolerated." "The attempts to weaken the country are unacceptable at any cost. For the sake of achieving the nefarious motives, one party and a person had harmed the country," Sadiq said. Sadiq said: "Any matter can be resolved by sitting in the parliament and holding talks." He said: “There is a need to make joint efforts to bid farewell to the politics of division and hatred." "Anarchy, imbroglio are the biggest obstacles to the development of the country," he added. He said: "It is deplorable to launch a maligning campaign against the state institutions." "The May 9 culprits will have to be answerable according to the law," he said. Sadiq urged all political parties to uplift democratic values.
