Speaker of National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq Monday paid rich tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the Pakistan Navy for their invaluable services and sacrifices in defence of the motherland. In his message on the occasion of Navy Day, he said that the Pakistan Navy has always demonstrated unwavering resolve, courage and professional excellence in safeguarding the country's maritime boundaries and national sovereignty.
He said that Navy Day reminds the nation of the sacrifices and services of the brave sons of the soil who laid down their lives in the line of duty for the defence of Pakistan. Ayaz Sadiq said their sacrifices are a source of pride and inspiration for the entire nation. While paying tribute to the outstanding performance of the Pakistan Navy during the 1965 war, Ayaz Sadiq said that Operation Dwarka remains a significant chapter in the history of the Pakistan Navy.
He said that the operation targeted important enemy coastal installations and radar facilities. He also recalled the operational role of the submarine PNS Ghazi, which effectively performed its responsibilities on the maritime front and maintained pressure on enemy naval movements. The Speaker said that during Marka-e-Haq, the Pakistan Navy also discharged its responsibilities in safeguarding the country’s maritime frontiers and national defence.
He said that, under the leadership of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, the Pakistan Navy demonstrated professionalism, resolve and courage in safeguarding national defence and security. Ayaz Sadiq said that the joint professional capabilities, coordination and national spirit demonstrated by the armed forces of Pakistan reaffirmed the country’s capacity to safeguard its sovereignty and territorial integrity He underscored the strategic importance of maritime routes for Pakistan's economy, trade and national security.
