The National Assembly Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue on Wednesday considered “The State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) (Amendment) Bill, 2024” (Government Bill) and recommended that the Bill may be passed by the Assembly. MNA Syed Naveed Qamar chaired the 2nd meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue held in the Committee Room 1 of Parliament House, Islamabad. During the meeting, the NA Body considered “The State-Owned Enterprises (Governance and Operations) (Amendment) Bill, 2024” (Government Bill) as referred to the Committee. The Minister for Law and Justice, Minister Finance and Revenue and Minister Power briefed the Committee on the Bill and replied to number of questions and queries of the chair and Members of the Committee.
Some of the Committee members opposed Amendments in the Bill and submitted a Note of Dissent but after a detailed consideration, the Committee recommended that the Bill may be passed by the Assembly. The meeting was attended by Mr. Bilal Azhar Kayani, Rana Iradat Sharif Khan, Ms. Zeb Jaffar, Mr. Waseem Qadir, Mr. Kesoo Mal Kheal Das, Ms. Hina Rabbani Khar (ON ZOOM), Mr. Ali Jan Mazari, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Dr. Nafisa Shah, Mr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra, Mr. Omar Ayub Khan, Mr. Shahram Khan, Mr. Muhammad Mobeen Arif, Mr. Muhammad Ali Sarfraz, and Ms. Shahida Begum, MNAs. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Minister for Finance and Revenue, Mr. Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Law and Justice, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Minister for Energy (Power), Secretary Finance Division and other senior officers.
