Senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader and chief of Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has strongly condemned the authorities for preventing an important meeting of the religious forum in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the controversial Waqf Amendment Act.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq commenting on the New Delhi-installed undemocratic move, in a post on X, said, “It was deeply unjust to deny religious leaders the basic democratic right to peacefully deliberate on matters of serious concern to the Muslim community”.
The representatives from across the occupied territory—including Ladakh, Kargil, and Jammu regions—had already arrived in Srinagar to participate in the meeting. “Despite the disruption, the MMU has decided that a resolution on the issue will be read in mosques across the occupied territory on Friday, tomorrow,” he said. Mirwaiz also extended full support to the All India Muslim Personal Law Board for its stance against the Act.
