Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar has stated that a political dialogue was direly needed for simultaneous elections in the country. “Article 254 of the Constitution also gives us the path of consultation. If negotiations start, the Supreme Court will also take care of it. Concurrent elections are actually the essence of Article 224 of the Constitution,” he pointed out while talking to a private TV Channel. “If negotiations are held, the date of National Assembly elections may also be advanced. If you want to strengthen the system, negotiate for transparent and fair elections together,” he advised the political parties.
“What was done to the police in Zaman Park will be remembered in the history. If this is happening in Punjab on the execution of arrest warrants, what will happen in the processions?” he pointed out. “Imran Khan will have to answer for that. The law will take its own course. Imran did not obey the courts. He has rebelled against the judicial system,” he lambasted. “Imran Khan should not worry. He will not face torture after his arrest,” he said.“During Imran Khan’s tenure, torture during arrest was very common which he now fears. This will not happen now, nor will there be any room for violence. Imran Khan will be dealt with according to the law,” he stated.
