Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhary on Wednesday visited Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) headquarters in Islamabad and examined locations for new ports via satellite technology.Junaid Anwar Chaudhary is the first Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs who visited SUPARCO headquarters. Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Chairman SUPARCO Yousaf Khan.
During his meeting with SUPARCO Chairman, Junaid Anwar Chaudhary discussed the use of satellite technology and artificial intelligence (AI) for relief and rescue operations at sea. Both dignitaries discussed in detail the satellite monitoring of the country’s ports. He said the latest technology of SUPARCO will help in finalizing the planning for ports.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhary said that marine environmental monitoring will help in policy-making. The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs said that satellite monitoring is important in dealing with climate change and environmental hazards. SUPARCO will assist in monitoring ports through the AI Secretariat established in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs.
