The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert for parts of Punjab, forecasting rain, wind, thunderstorms, isolated hailstorms, and snowfall over the mountains from Monday evening into Tuesday, February 26-27. According to the PMD, a westerly wave is expected to enter Balochistan by Sunday night, February 25, before making its way to the upper parts of the country by Monday, February 26. Under the influence of this weather system, light to moderate rain, wind, and thunderstorms are anticipated in various regions, including Murree, Galyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan. The mountainous areas are also likely to experience snowfall during this period, with isolated hailstorms possible.

Potential impacts of these weather conditions include disruptions to traffic in hilly areas such as Murree and Galyat, and potential damage to loose structures such as electric poles and solar panels due to wind thunderstorms. Farmers and tourists are advised to exercise caution during this weather spell. Meanwhile, Lahore and most parts of Punjab experienced cold and dry weather over the past 24 hours. Murree registered the lowest temperatures in the province, dipping below freezing, with relative humidity reaching 76 percent during the morning hours. In Lahore, the minimum temperature hovered around 10 degrees Celsius, with relative humidity recorded at 66 percent.
