In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the President of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah have criticised the authorities for evicting the Kashmiris from their lands in the name of removing encroachments by January end. Mehbooba Mufti talking to media persons in Srinagar said any law of the country is for the welfare of the citizens but in Kashmir after 2019 so many laws have been brought and are used like arms against the people. She said, the people who are living on the lands for years are very poor with having five to six marlas of having constructed their homes and now they are being asked to vacate the land is humiliating.

Omar Abdullah in a statement in Srinagar said the Roshni scheme was never rejected by anyone and retrieving the land provided to people under this scheme will be tantamount to betraying the people. He said under this scheme, Jammu farmers have been benefited the most and taking back the lands would be a betrayal to them, therefore the authorities should reconsider its decision. However, he said illegal occupation of land anywhere, if found, should be retrieved, but it seems that such actions are aimed to harass the people as the authorities have failed to improve the situation on the ground. He said such decisions are aimed at diverting attention from the main issues.
