The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter organized a conference in Islamabad to pay tribute to martyred leader and Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, on his fifth martyrdom anniversary. APHC-AJK Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi presided over the conference.Speakers highlighted the invaluable contributions of the martyred iconic leader to the Kashmiris’ just struggle for freedom, rooted in the Two-Nation Theory.
Speakers said the BJP regime showed criminal negligence regarding the treatment of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai during his illegal detention, but the Hurriyat leader remained an embodiment of determination and sacrificed his life for the Kashmir cause. They said the custodial death of Ashraf Sehrai was an irreversible loss, but his sacrifices should not be allowed to be forgotten and his mission would be accomplished at all costs.
They said those responsible for his custodial death are yet to be brought to justice and reiterated that the people of Kashmir would continue their freedom struggle till complete success. The speakers said the Indian government was directly responsible for Sehrai’s custodial murder. They added that a credible investigation into the incident was urgently needed to ascertain the real facts that led to the tragic death of the Kashmiri leader.
The speakers said Ashraf Sehrai’s son, Junaid Sehrai, also attained martyrdom while fighting Indian occupation in May 2020, and the sacrifices of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai’s family will remain a golden page in Kashmir’s history.The participants of the conference reiterated the Kashmiris' determination to continue the martyrs' mission till taking it to its logical conclusion.
Hurriyat leaders who participated in the conference included Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Tahir Masood, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Muhammad Rafiq Dar, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Mir Tahir Masood, Hasan Al-Bana, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, Manzoor Ahmed Shah, Zahid Safi, Mushtaq Ahmad Butt, Imtiaz Wani, Dawood Yousafzai and Syed Gulshan Ahmed
