The owner of a medical store was booked after a drug control team recovered a quantity of smuggled and unregistered Indian medicines during a raid in Shahpur tehsil on Monday.According to officials,the case was registered on the application of Deputy Drug(DD) Controller,Dr.Faheem Zia following directives from the Chairman of the District Quality Control board,Sargodha.
The drug control team inspected a medical store owned by Muhammad Shahbaz in the Mikuwana Sultan Pur area and allegedly recovered a significant quantity of medicines that were neither registered with the relevant health authorities nor legally imported. Dr.Zia said an FIR had been registered at the concerned police station under Sections 23 and 27 of the Drug Act, 1976.
He said the health department had intensified its crackdown on illegal pharmacies and the sale of substandard and unregistered medicines across district. The campaign,he added,was aimed at safeguarding public health and ensuring that pharmacies comply with drug laws and regulatory requirements.
