A massive fire broke out in the Gazara forest in Murree, engulfing a large part of the forest. Residents in the area are trying to bring the fire under control on their own. They said that due to inefficiency and negligence of the Forest department, incidents of fire frequently happen, destroying precious trees, animals, and birds.
The residents further said that continuous fires are causing severe damage to the environment and valuable natural resources, Earlier on May 11, 2026, at least 10 people were killed and 13 others injured when a fire broke out in a van after it fell into a nullah while negotiating a turn on the Islamabad-Murree Expressway near Khajut.
