Lining work on Nara Canal, originated from Sukkur Barrage, has begun on the instructions of President Asif Ali Zardari. According to Sindh Irrigation Department, work continued day and night to make the world's widest canal safe. Nara Canal is being blocked with CC for 2 kilometers, Irrigation Department said. In this regard, Engineer Qamar Lakho said that work is being done on the Nara Canal project under the supervision of NESPAK.
Engineer Qamar Lakho further said that Nara Canal lining will irrigate another 200000 acres of agricultural land. He said that lining was necessary to improve the flow of water from the barrage and the work on the project is possible only during the cleaning of canal. The new system will help in delivering water to the tail quickly without any obstacles, Qamar Lakho said. Project Director Syed Naseem Shah said that the lining project will be completed by January 30. For the first time, a drainage system has been added to the Nara Canal, Syed Naseem Shah said.
