The controversy surrounding the date of the Lahore High Court Bar Association’s (LHCBA) annual elections has been resolved, with the general house unanimously deciding to hold the elections on February 28 through a biometric voting system.
The decision was taken during a General House meeting attended by lawyers from both the Independent Group and the Professional Group, where complete consensus was achieved on the election schedule.
The meeting was chaired by LHCBA President Malik Asif Ali Nuswana. Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council Pir Masood Chishti, Pakistan Bar Council member Ishtiaq A. Khan, Shafqat Mahmood Chohan, and other bar office-bearers were also present.
Lawyers welcomed the consensus-based decision and expressed confidence in the conduct of elections on February 28, terming it a positive step that reflects unity within the bar and strengthens democratic traditions.
Earlier, in view of the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan in February, differences within the Lahore High Court Bar have emerged over the issue of the date for the bar elections, and the legal community has become divided into two clear factions.
