June 06, 2024

The Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved its decision on the petition against the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendment through the presidential ordinance on Thursday. A hearing of the petition against the amendment of the NAB law through the Presidential Ordinance was held in the LHC. Justice Shujaat Ali Khan of Lahore High Court heard the petition filed by a citizen Munir Ahmed in which he challenged the recent amendment in the NAB law made through a presidential ordinance. Muneer Ahmed's petition contests the Federal Government and Chairman NAB's decision to increase the duration of physical remand from 14 days to 40 days. The petition names the Federal Government, Chairman NAB, and others as respondents. The petitioner argues that the amendment, enacted through a presidential ordinance, should be declared null and void. The hearing aims to address these concerns and determine the legality of the changes made to the NAB law.
