The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed the installation of standard tire killers on roads to reduce traffic accidents and congestion. During a hearing on petitions related to smog control, presided over by Justice Shahid Karim, officials from various departments, including the Environment Department and LDA presented their reports. Senior Legal Advisor WASA, Mian Irfan Akram, also submitted an implementation report. The court ordered the LDA to ensure the use of high-quality tire killers, emphasizing that substandard ones increase the risk of traffic jams and accidents. Additionally, the court instructed that all green belts in Lahore be lowered to allow rainwater to seep into the ground. The LDA's report mentioned that during an operation in Tollinton Market, shopkeepers had locked their shops and left. The court further ordered the removal of encroachments in Tollinton Market and directed measures to store ablution water in mosques across the province, requesting compliance reports from the relevant departments.
