The Lahore High Court has disposed of a petition filed by the flood-hit students of the GCU seeking to waive their admission fee. The court sent the matter to the university’s vice chancellor. LHC Justice Sajid Mehmood Sethi on Monday heard a petition filed by Government College University, Lahore student Aqsa Bibi and others. Rafiq A Sheikh advocate appeared before the court on behalf of petitioners. He told the court that the petitioners who belonged to the flood-affected areas of South Punjab were studying in GCU. The university administration is demanding admission fee from its students but the petitioners whose houses have been washed away in the recent floods are unable to pay their fees, the lawyer said. He contended that the Allama Iqbal Open University had also waived fee of students hailing from the flood-affected areas. He beseeched the court to order the GCU administration too to waive fee of the petitioner. But the judge referred the matter to vice chancellor of the university while disposing of the case.
