Chief Justice Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti will retire from service on Thursday (today), while Justice Shahzad Ahmed Khan will take oath as Chief Justice of Lahore High Court on Friday. There will be no full court reference in honor of outgoing chief justice as Justice Ameer Bhatti will only be given a farewell party by colleague judges at principal seat. Nominated Chief Justice LHC Justice Malik Shahzad Ahmad Khan will also attend the farewell party. After the retirement of Justice Ameer Bhatti, total number of judges in LHC will be 38 while 22 seats are vacant in LHC. Justice Ameer Bhatti served 2 years and eight months as Chief Justice Lahore High Court. He took charge of his office on July 6, 2021. Justice Ameer Bhatti served the judiciary for 13 years. During his term as LHC Chief Justice, the relations between the bench and bars were not pleasant. While many of district court judges complained about flaws in transfer and posting policy.
