Lahore remains in grip of smog and fog  Breaking

 Lahore is in the grip of both smog and fog which are having a very adverse effect on citizens’ health. The Punjab capital has again ranked on top of the list of most polluted cities in the world followed by Karachi on Saturday. The AQ level of Lahore was recorded at 291 in the morning today which is considered extremely unhealthy. The minimum temperature of the city was recorded at 11C while the maximum temperature would rise to 23C. According to the metrological department, there is no chance of rain in the next 24 hours. The AQ level of different areas in Lahore remained as follows: DHA Phase VIII 422, Lahore American School 419, Cantt Polo Ground 502, Atchison College 402, Shahre Quaid-e-Azam 502, and Johar Town 322. The second most polluted city in the world is also a Pakistani city i.e. Karachi where the air pollution level was recorded at 213 today.

Overall weather

Today, the weather will be cold and dry in most parts of the country, while it will be partly cloudy in upper districts. However, light rain is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan, Chitral and adjoining areas and light snowfall on high mountains. The plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Sindh are likely to experience smog/fog in the morning and at night. The weather in the last 24 hours was cold and dry in most parts of the country. Minimum temperature recorded today: Leh minus 10, Skardu minus 07, Astur, Gopas, Kalam minus 04, Gilgit minus 03, Quetta and Srinagar minus 02 degrees Celsius.
