It has been decided to send more than 2,200 personnel of Lahore Police to Islamabad keeping in view of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest call. It reported in media that lists of anti-riots training personnel have been compiled and 500 officials of the investigation wing will also go to Islamabad. Anti-riots equipment will also be sent from Lahore to handle the protest, the sources said. The consultation of the authorities regarding sending the water cannon is going on. On the call of protest in Islamabad, a force is being sent on the post of the federal government to maintain law and order, police sources said. Meanwhile, the Islamabad police chief also asked for two DIGs of Punjab Police, 10 DPOs, and a large number of personnel, gas shells and elite force vehicles, sources said.
Although, Punjab police has already sent a large number of personnel to Rawalpindi, Attock, Murree and nearby districts, sources said. Punjab Police has completed preparations to maintain law and order situation and 174 reserves, 69 buses, 21 police vans and 9 trucks from various units and districts of Punjab Police have been put on standby, sources added. Focal persons of the respective districts have also been appointed for the police force. Moreover, five buses, 13 reserved from PC-1 Abbas Line, PC-2 Rawat 29 reserved and 11 buses put on standby, sources said.
