Lahore traffic police imposed heavy fines totalling Rs60.6 million and impounded over 33,000 smoke-emitting vehicles in a six-month-long smog remediation campaign, following the orders of the Lahore High Court. The Lahore traffic police are strictly targeting vehicles that emit dangerous smoke, issuing heavy fines, and taking strong action against offenders. According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Amara Athar, 15,701 vehicles have been impounded in various police stations and sectors due to hazardous smoke emissions. Additionally, 8,427 vehicles received challan tickets specifically for emitting smoke, while 6,344 vehicles were fined for issues related to sand, mud, and dust emissions. The crackdown also extended to vehicles without proper fitness certificates.

A total of 14,255 vehicles in poor condition were fined, and 183 vehicles were stopped for possessing fake fitness certificates. Moreover, the Lahore traffic police have taken a proactive approach to raising public awareness about smog prevention. Over 500 traffic awareness lectures have been conducted in schools, colleges, bus stands, and government institutions. A public communication campaign has been launched, using social media to find and act on reports of smoke-emitting vehicles. CTO Amara Athar emphasised the importance of public cooperation in eliminating urban environmental pollution. She also urged citizens to collaborate with authorities to create a cleaner, healthier environment for all.
