KP IGP awards police personnel for bravery, professional excellenceBreaking

An awards distribution ceremony was held at the central police office here under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed. According to a spokesperson for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, the IGP presented cash rewards and commendation certificates to police officers and personnel from Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Lakki Marwat, Peshawar, Lower Chitral, Special Branch, and the FRP Elite Force for their successful operations against terrorists, murder suspects, attempted murder cases, target killers, and kidnappers.

Investigation staff from districts including Hangu, Charsadda, Karak, Haripur, Mardan, Shangla, Nowshera, Buner, Bajaur, and Lower Chitral were also honored for outstanding investigative performance. In addition, ministerial and executive staff of the accounts, logistics, and establishment branches at the central police office were recognized for professionalism in administrative duties.

The ceremony also acknowledged the contributions of former RPO Dera Ismail Khan Ashfaq Anwar for his effective efforts against crime and terrorism, which helped restore public confidence and strengthen law and order. His coordination with other law enforcement agencies improved intelligence sharing, while measures taken under his supervision enhanced police infrastructure and logistics.

DIG Headquarters Abbas Majeed Marwat was praised for implementing effective welfare strategies, significantly increasing the welfare fund and ensuring its transparent use to provide timely relief to deserving police personnel. Several acts of bravery were highlighted during the ceremony. Bannu police successfully rescued a hostage officer from terrorists and repelled a midnight attack by Fitna al-Khawarij militants. Lakki Marwat police thwarted both light and heavy weapon attacks, killing one terrorist, while Dera Ismail Khan police foiled an terror assault.

In another operation, DI Khan police intercepted an attempt to smuggle a large cache of weapons and ammunition to Balochistan, arresting the suspect on the spot. Peshawar police were commended for solving a blind murder and attempted murder case using scientific investigation methods, and for arresting a suspicious individual near the American Consulate compound over suspected terrorist intent. Lower Chitral police were also recognized for successfully tracing a missing Australian national through professional efforts.
