The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has invited applications from potential candidates for the positions of Vice Chancellors (VCs) of seven public sector universities. The universities for which VCs are being appointed are University of Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Bacha Khan University Charsadda, Shuhada-e-APS University of Technology Nowshera, Kohat University of Science and Technology Kohat, University of Science and Technology Bannu and University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar. The Higher Education Department KP has issued a notification inviting applications from eligible candidates. The applications must be submitted by September 15, 2023.
The Academic Search Committee of the department will shortlist the candidates and conduct interviews. The committee will then recommend three suitable candidates to the provincial government for the approval of the chancellor.The VCs of the public sector universities are appointed for a period of three years and can be reappointed for a further term.The appointment of VCs is a crucial process as they play a key role in the development and management of the universities. The VCs are responsible for the overall academic and administrative affairs of the universities. They also play a role in fundraising and promoting research.
