KP caretaker government crafts 4-month budgetBreaking

February 22, 2024

The caretaker government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa unveils a budget plan spanning the next four months, from March 1 to June 30, 2024. Led by Finance Department official Ahmed Rasool Bangash, the budget allocation totals a substantial 560 billion rupees. With the current fiscal period set to conclude on February 29, the Finance Department emphasizes the necessity of obtaining approval for at least one month's budget to ensure the seamless continuation of day-to-day operations. Failure to secure approval could render any expenditure unlawful. The caretaker government, demonstrating foresight, has previously sanctioned budget allocations twice, each spanning four months. Bangash clarifies that the cabinet holds the authority to endorse either four-month or one-month budget plans, pending approval by the permanent government upon its formation. As stakeholders await the transition to a permanent administration, the interim government's decisive budgetary measures underscore its commitment to fiscal responsibility and governance continuity.
