August 17, 2024

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has issued a stern warning about the high risk of polio virus in Karachi, directing an intensified effort in the ongoing anti-polio campaign. The Chief Minister emphasized that polio remains a severe threat, capable of devastating a child’s life. He has instructed the health department to enhance the effectiveness of the vaccination drive, insisting that parents and guardians must fully cooperate. Refusal to administer the polio vaccine will lead to strict action against non-compliant individuals. In his directive, Murad Ali Shah highlighted that vaccinations will be administered across all 85 union councils of Karachi, with a target of reaching 110,000 children.

He stressed that no child should be missed in this critical campaign and urged full support from district administration and police health workers to ensure success. The Chief Minister noted that while polio has been eradicated globally, local challenges persist due to resistance from some individuals. He vowed that the government will persist in its efforts until the virus is eradicated, underlining that the success of the campaign hinges on community support and parental involvement to secure a healthier future for children.
